Any of you that know me know I love to decorate for Christmas~ Don't know what happened this year Between Ward party, RS party, Fam party, ASU party shopping, being sick, etc., etc., etc~ Christmas just seemed to pass me by
Hardly any decorating at my house~ not even a wreath on the front door no lights outside My tree sat in the middle of the living room floor for 3 days NOTHING on it!! Finally lights and a few balls~
I'm even missing a "HO".........
I just couldn't be creative because I really wanted a totally different look Hot pink, purple, lime green and teal WHAT? Where did that come from?
but.......... the Red Cup club had our Christmas party tonight and looky ~ looky My BFF Terri got me started for next year.......
So watch out~ I have big plans for after Christmas sales and my decorating will be "over the top" next year~promise!!
There's a little corner in my TV room ~ this is where the computer lives and where I sit to FB and blog..... but, I haven't sat down at this computer for at least a week~ but, tonight seemed to be the perfect night to grab a few minutes and check on my peeps on FB and do a little blog stalking but, when I arrived at said corner to use the computer I found a sticky little mess. I asked Grandpa about it~ he blamed it on the GRANDS~ I asked the GRANDS about it~ they blamed it on Grandpa~ but, a little windex, paper towels and elbow grease it's all clean again, but, the little sticky tracks left behind are from 3 of my fav guys and as much as I love this little corner of my home to be clean I'm so glad they left those sticky tracks on the computer desk and on my HEART too!!
We've been busy with these 2 little guys~ Piano recitals, Band concerts, trips to Starbucks for a milkshake, Christmas shopping, games of Apples to Apples~ I LOVE doing anything with these little boys!! They're going to make handsome missionaries one of these days, (minus the faux hawk) don't you think?
Have you ever had a friend you don't know what you'd do without her?
She does the nicest things for me~ She brings out the best in me~ She's always there, no matter what~ She goes above and beyond~ She does things for me before I can even ask She is unconditional~ She goes to battle for me~ Can't live without her and don't want to try!!
Marla.....I love your guts!!! Thanks for all you do for me.......you ROCK!!
I love these bright "Christmas" colors! I haven't put my tree up yet because I don't know how to decorate it......then I saw this and "THAT'S IT"! I want my tree to look like this wreath..... hummmmmmmm....any ideas?
Meet Buffy and PJ~ Soon to be married, Dec. 11 She belongs to the centerpieces in the last post.... Hard to believe ~ she should still be that little girl! Buffy totally love me from the minute I came into their family and I loved her right back..... There was just something about that girl..... loved me unconditionally and would follow me around like a little puppy and I loved it!! I remember she would come over for sleep overs and we would play tricks on Grandpa! One time when he was asleep Buffy wanted to put make-up on him~ so we did.....FUNNY!! Lipstick and eyeshadow and blush. He was a good sport and Buffy, I will never forget that! Love you!!
There's something about the holidays that brings out all the traditional recipes. This is one of my favorites~this is not your basic green bean casserole~this is "Over the TOP Green Bean & Corn Casserole"
Another "holiday favorite" recipe to come tomorrow (pecan pie)
Green Bean and Corn Casserole 1 can french cut green beans (I use 1 1/2 cans) 1 bag white baby corn (frozen) Drain beans and put in greased 9 x 13 pan Mix together: 1 chopped onion 1 can cream celery soup 1 C. sour cream 2 C. grated cheddar cheese Spread mixture and cheese on top of corn and beans
In zip lock bag: 1 tube of Ritz crackers 1 bag sliced almonds Toss together
Melt 1 stick of butter Put butter in bag and shake well Pour over casserole Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes It will bubble on top and look yummy when done
I've never made divinity before~ but after seeing this recipe and photo I think I'm ready to give it a try Sweetiepie LOVES divinity I bet I could win him over with this little goodie!!
4cup(s) granulated sugar
1cup(s) light corn syrup
3large egg whites
1 1/2teaspoon(s) peppermint extract
6drop(s) red food coloring
1. Oil a 9 by 9 pan and a spoon and set aside. Combine sugar and corn syrup in a medium saucepan with 3/4 cup water and cook over medium heat until mixture reaches 260 degrees on a candy thermometer , about 20 minutes. 2. Beat egg whites to stiff peaks in a large bowl using an electric mixer set on medium-high speed. Reduce speed to medium and slowly pour sugar mixture into egg whites. Add peppermint and continue to beat until mixture is very thick and fluffy, about 12 minutes. 3. Immediately transfer to prepared pan and smooth using back of oiled spoon. Dot divinity surface with red food coloring and drag a skewer through to create a marbled effect. Let stand at room temperature until firm, about 2 hours. Slice into 1-inch squares. Note: For a simple variation, drop dollops of divinity batter onto an oiled baking sheet, then top with chocolate kisses.
This is our newest project~ There's just something relaxing about sitting down for a few minutes and putting a few pieces of the puzzle together. Everyone that comes and hangs out at our house comes in and tries to find a piece or two......... Kinda of makes you want to linger a little LONGER!!
I love oatmeal but, too many carbohydrates~ so, I never eat it....... but then I saw this quote on the Susan Branch blog and decided I deserve a bowl once in awhile so I think I'll celebrate Veteran's Day, tomorrow with a bowl of OATMEAL after all, they say it's good for you a girl's gotta splurge once in awhile......RIGHT?
Wednesday was not a good day for us. Newel came home during the day and found someone had broken into our home. They trashed all the screens and tried to get in through a window...... No LUCK!!
Next came busting a whole in the security screen door.....then took some kind of saw drill and drilled a hole to get their hand through to undo the locks.....
Now it's time to get through the second door.......... totally broke out the window and put their hand through to get through 2 more locks
Then they were inside. Trashed our bedroom and closet and the TV room. Went through all drawers and stole anything they could hurry and carry out....leaving their mess all over the place. I didn't take pictures because they stole my camera...........but I remembered I had an old camera and wanted to save a few pictures.
As the week went on it could only get better. I got out the fall decorations and tried to make our home feel like it hadn't had "STRANGERS" inside. So, fall finally arrived at the Turley's and we are "giving thanks" that we are safe and sound. Material things can be replaced and our home has a sweet spirit to it once again, and for this we are truly blessed!!
Shhhhh.....I have a new BFF, but don't tell anyone! Her name is Sarah She does this every single week for me, and you, and you, and you! Be sure to check out her blog, not just for the grocery ads, but for the beautiful photography and general entertainment. Thank you Sarah, you ROCK~~!
